An original empty bottle of G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut, vintage 1976, from the cellars of Reims in the heart of the Champagne region of France. The green glass bottle retains its original paper label - worn from nearly 50 years of age, as expected - along with the distinctive royal crest coat of arms label below it, and the 1976 year medallion at the neck.
Founded in 1827, G.H. Mumm is one of the most storied Champagne houses. The red "cordon rouge" sash design that wraps the label honors the French Legion of Honour - a distinction the house earned in the 19th century and proudly displays to this day. Mumm also held a royal warrant from H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, and was the official Champagne of Formula 1 podium celebrations for decades, making it one of the most photographed bottles in motorsport history.
1976 was a historically notable vintage - a very hot, dry summer that produced bold, full-bodied grapes. The bottle base is embossed "G.H. MUMM & CO REIMS" with a mold code and glassmaker's emblem. A striking piece of French wine history.
