The Ferrari 375 F1 marked a decisive step in Ferrari’s pursuit of Grand Prix success. Following the supercharged 1.5-litre V12 of the Ferrari 125 F1, introduced for Ferrari’s Formula 1 debut in 1950, engineer Aurelio Lampredi developed a new naturally aspirated V12 engine designed around the 4.5-litre regulations. The progression was rapid: the experimental 275 F1 with 3.3 litres, the 340 F1 with 4.1 litres, and finally the 375 F1, whose 4,493cc V12 made its debut at Monza in September 1950.

The larger engine offered strong torque, greater fuel economy than Alfa Romeo’s supercharged Alfettas, and a promising alternative to their formidable power. During 1951, Ferrari continued developing the 375, including a twin-spark ignition arrangement to improve performance.

On 14 July 1951, at Silverstone, Argentina’s José Froilán González drove the Ferrari 375 F1 to a landmark victory in the British Grand Prix. Known as “The Pampas Bull” for his forceful driving style, González defeated the dominant Alfa Romeo team and Juan Manuel Fangio by more than 50 seconds. It was Ferrari’s first World Championship Grand Prix victory—a defining moment in the company’s Formula 1 history.

The 1951 season saw Ferrari further establish itself as a serious challenger. Alberto Ascari won the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, while González’s Silverstone triumph remains one of the great milestones of early Ferrari racing.

This model commemorates the 375 F1 and the charismatic Argentine driver whose victory helped change the course of Formula 1 history.
