JAL took delivery of its first 747 in April of that year. This brochure has the first pictures of their 747. The booklet talks of it going into service in July 1970.
The 1970 Japan Airlines (JAL) "Garden Jet" was a themed Boeing 747-100 service designed to evoke the tranquility of a traditional Japanese garden at 30,000 feet. The design used throughout the cabin was created around traditional Japanese artistic modes and nature themes. Murals and wall coverings were executed by famous Japanese artists. This brochure perfectly captures that experience.
This is a very rare English text version that was printed in Japan. This English version is actually much nicer as it has the 747 on the cover taking off, and the same picture is on the last inside page, but in color.
Being offered by the original owner. Of all of my 747 collection, this was my favorite because of the silver and black cover with the bright red JAL logo on the lower front.

Condition: This is in remarkable condition for being over 56 years old! The silver metallic looking cover and back is in great condition. You can see some slight bends and wear marks, but no folds or creases. At the top, just before the picture of the 747, you can see the original owner name that was lightly toughed up with metallic marker to make less noticeable. Inside the pages are perfect. Just a slight yellowing typical with a document of this age. Please examine all the photos closely.
