VINTAGE PRISTINE MCM WALBORG HAND-BEADED FLORAL EVENING COCKTAIL CLUTCH PURSE 7”
This elegant evening purse belonged to my mother, and she took excellent care of it!
This evening cocktail purse is hand-beaded and adorned with vibrant, intricate beadwork in a floral and scroll motif, embroidered using maroon, teal, citrine, black, and gold beads on one side, all black on the other, all most likely built upon a fabric base. Fully beaded on all sides - including the edges and back - confirms the high-quality Belgian craftsmanship…typical signature Walborg. The gold-tone kiss-lock features two clear rhinestones. The inside is lined in thick black satin and is in near perfect condition - showing virtually no sign of wear. The same could be said of the beadwork. The interior is divided into two compartments, attached on the diagonal.
The Walborg Corporation was founded in New York City in the late 1940s by Hilde (or Hilda) Weinberg and this purse was created during that period - considered its best. The company specialized in high-quality, intricately beaded handbags. Walborg was known for outsourcing the detailed beadwork to skilled artisans in Belgium. The label, featuring the brand’s ‘crown-over-W logo’ “Made in Belgium by hand WALBORG” is a classic early Walborg mark.

Condition: Please refer to photos. Excellent condition. Vibrant beadwork is sturdy; no apparent missing beads. Satin lining virtually without wear. Clasp is tight.
