A very attractive and scarce Edwardian/early George V period Association of Conservative Clubs Distinguished Service Medal, awarded in 1913 and retaining its original fitted Mappin & Webb Ltd presentation case.

The medal is beautifully made in gilt metal with blue, white and red enamel decoration. The central design depicts Britannia surrounded by patriotic flags and floral emblems, beneath a crown, with the inscription:

FOR KING AND COUNTRY – A.C.C.

It hangs from its original dark blue ribbon with an enamelled “FIVE YEARS” bar and ornate “DISTINGUISHED SERVICE” suspension brooch.

The reverse of the medal is individually named:

The medal is complete with its original long pin fitting to the reverse.

Particularly pleasing is the original fitted presentation case, the cream silk interior printed:

The medal is not being sold as precious metal; its interest and value lie in its age, enamel work, named provenance and historical/political association.

Very good antique condition overall considering it is over 110 years old. The enamel remains particularly attractive with some age-related wear and marks visible. The ribbon shows some age and slight fraying/wear. The original presentation case also shows age-related wear and discolouration to the lining.
