Purpose of the Upgrade Set
The earlier Statenjacht Utrecht kits were designed primarily according to the appearance of the present-day sailing replica of the ship. HiSModel subsequently developed a new set of decorative parts representing the richer appearance of a prestigious Dutch state yacht during the 17th century.
This upgrade set makes those newly developed historical parts available separately to owners of the earlier Replica Edition. The original kit can therefore be used as the construction base and fitted with the more elaborate decorations of the Original 17th Century Version.
The supplied parts replace or supplement details based on the modern sailing replica. They were developed according to plans and historical references representing the vessel in its original historical form.

Replica Edition and Original 17th Century Version
The Replica Edition is based on the present-day sailing reconstruction of the Statenjacht Utrecht, which was built between 1998 and 2003 as a project intended to revive traditional shipbuilding skills.
The Original 17th Century Version represents a more richly decorated period vessel. Its prominent stern decoration, side galleries, bow figure and additional ornamental details reflect the prestigious character of Dutch state yachts during the Golden Age.
This set provides the principal new resin decorations needed to reproduce that historical appearance using an earlier HiSModel Statenjacht Utrecht kit as the base.
About Dutch Statenjachts
Dutch statenjachts were luxurious representative vessels used for transporting officials, important guests, business representatives and other prominent persons. They sailed mainly on rivers, estuaries, coastal waters and inland waterways rather than undertaking long ocean voyages.
Their purpose was not limited to transportation. Rich stern ornamentation, galleries and figurative decoration also demonstrated the wealth, social position and prestige of their owners. The new parts in this set are intended to give the model this more elaborate 17th-century character.
