Johnnie Walker & His Mascot – Signed Album Page, Tunbridge Wells, March 1931

A scarce handwritten autograph on an old album page from the touring impersonation duo Johnnie Walker & His Mascot, dated Tunbridge Wells, March 1931. Period ink inscription on album page, typical of interwar autograph collecting.

The act specialised in a Charlie Chaplin & Jackie Coogan routine, with Walker performing as Chaplin and the “mascot” taking the Coogan child role. Their impersonation turn was a popular novelty feature of provincial revues in the 1920s–30s.

The duo is well‑documented across several venues:

  • Coventry Hippodrome, 7–12 September 1925 – billed in the revue Fags (Sixteen in a Packet).

  • Palace Theatre (press notice) – praised for “a very fine portrayal of Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan.”

  • Tunbridge Wells, March 1931 – the present autograph, likely signed during a provincial engagement at the Opera House or Pantiles Assembly Rooms.

The inscription reads: “Real Good Luck. The Johnnie Walker. & His Mascot. Tunbridge Wells. March. 1931”

A fine example of interwar variety ephemera, representing a long‑running impersonation act active across the 1925–1931 revue circuit. Ideal for collectors of music‑hall, novelty turns, Chapliniana, or provincial theatre history.
