ANTIQUE FRENCH BOUDOIR DOLL - 1920s/30s - LARGE 85cm

A large and elegant antique boudoir doll (bed doll / poupée de

salon) from the 1920s-1930s. These long-limbed decorative dolls

were made to recline on a bed or chaise as fashionable boudoir

ornaments rather than as toys.

Features:

- Hand-painted mask face with Art Deco styling: large green eyes,

  arched brows, rouged cheeks, red cupid's-bow mouth

- Auburn mohair wig in a period updo with black net and feather

  headpiece

- Long soft-stuffed body with pink silk arms and stockinette legs

- Large sculpted composition painted black shoes with blue trim

- Costume of mauve/rose silk overlaid with black floral lace:

  high-collar bodice, wide lace sleeves, drop-waist overskirt

- Silk flower posy at the throat

Measurements:

- Height approx. 85 cm (33.5 in)

- Width across arms approx. 20 cm (8 in)

CONDITION:

Sold as a genuine antique in age-appropriate condition. Wear is

consistent with age (see all photos, which form part of the

description). There is fine crazing to the painted face, general

age wear to the silk and lace costume.
