Here we offer a very early edition of L Frank Baum's classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published by Bobbs-Merrill, Indianapolis. The book is dated 1903, but all of these were produced around 1920, prior to the 1939 movie. This is the fourth edition, the first with a front cover pastedown, with 8 full-page color plates and numerous black-and-white illustrations by the iconic Oz illustrator, W.W. Denslow. The title on the title page reads "New" Wizard of Oz, but it is simply a subsequent edition of the same book as the original. The book comes in a facsimile of its original retail dust jacket, printed with archival inks on acid-free bond. Please see last picture of Judy Garland reading this edition!
Boards are worn and soiled (please see pics.) This particular edition had the oddity of the blue ink on the cover graphic fading to a bright yellow over the years, as you can see in the details of the tin man and scarecrow figures. Endpapers are intact and bear a period inscription. Minor foxing. Binding is very tight and square. Very clean, bright and crisp text and Illustrations. 208 pages. The book measures approximately 7 x 9.5-inches.

The title on the title page reads "New" Wizard of Oz, but it is simply a subsequent edition of the same book as the original. The book comes wrapped in the highest quality facsimile of the first edition dust jacket you can only get here, digitally remastered and printed with archival pigment inks on coated heavyweight bond. The
polymer coating on the paper ensures the brightest colors and sharpest
