Fifty Special Savouries by Elsie Turner, published in London by Spottiswoode, Ballantyne & Co. Ltd. in 1934.

An interesting vintage British cookery book containing fifty savoury recipes, with examples including Anchovy Matches and a variety of recipes using fish, meat, mushrooms, cheese and other ingredients. The author also wrote Fifty Ways of Cooking a Pheasant and Fifty Ways of Cooking Fish.

The book has an attractive patterned hardback binding with a black and gilt title label to the front.

There is a handwritten gift inscription to the front dated January 1944, including an HMS reference. The ship name is difficult to decipher, so it has not been identified in this listing.

Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition with considerable age and use-related wear. The covers show rubbing, edge and corner wear and marks, with wear/loss to the black title label. Pages show age-related toning, foxing, spotting and marks. There are also handwritten scribbles/doodles on a number of internal pages, as shown in the photographs. The book is therefore being sold with these faults clearly noted.

Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
