Genuine Russian USSR Soviet VKK 6M MIG Jet Pilot Flying High Altitude Suit – Size 6 – Good
Condition
This is an original Soviet Air Force VKK-6M (High-altitude compensating suit) high-altitude pressure suit, size 7.
Historical Background:
• The VKK-6M was introduced in the late 1960s and widely used throughout the 1970s–1980s by Soviet military pilots.
• Designed to protect pilots during high-altitude jet operations, preventing decompression effects above 10,000 meters.
• Worn together with GSh-6 series helmets and KS-type oxygen systems, it was standard issue for frontline fighter pilots.
• Used in iconic aircraft such as the MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25, Su-15, and later MiG-29 and Su-27 in their early years.
• Primarily issued to interceptor and fighter pilots of the Soviet Air Force and Air Defense Forces (PVO).
Space Program Connection:
• The VKK-6M was also used in the training of Soviet cosmonauts at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC).
• It served in ground simulations and high-altitude chamber tests, preparing cosmonauts for space missions.
• Early versions of this suit’s technology influenced the development of pressure suits used in the Vostok, Voskhod, and Soyuz programs.
