Original Theatrical Movie Poster for Jaws 3-D, a 1983 horror film that was the third installment in the Jaws franchise. Directed by Joe Alves, the movie is best known for capitalizing on the early 1980s 3D craze, using polarized glasses to create effects that appeared to "penetrate" the screen. 

Plot and Setting

Unlike the first two films set on Amity Island, Jaws 3-D takes place at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. The story follows the now-grown Brody children, Mike and Sean: 

• A young great white shark infiltrates the park's underwater tunnels and lagoons.
• After the young shark is captured, it is revealed that its much larger, 35-foot-long mother is also in the park and is the one responsible for a series of attacks.

• Starring Cast: The film featured Dennis Quaid as Mike Brody, Bess Armstrong, Louis Gossett Jr., and marked the film debut of Lea Thompson.
• Development Trivia: It was originally pitched as a spoof titled Jaws 3, People 0, but Steven Spielberg reportedly threatened to leave Universal if they made it a comedy.
• Behind the Scenes: Dennis Quaid has famously admitted in interviews that he was high on drugs throughout the entire filming process. 

Reception and Legacy

• Box Office: Despite overwhelmingly negative critical reviews, the film was a commercial success, grossing over $88 million worldwide.
• 3D Technology: While revolutionary at the time, the 3D effects are often criticized today for looking "murky" or "clunky," especially in 2D home releases where the film is typically titled Jaws III.
• Continuity: The subsequent sequel, Jaws: The Revenge (1987), largely ignores the events and character developments of this film.
