An excellent original black and white photograph dating from around the late 1920s to 1930s, showing what appears to be a British gundog field trial or organised game shoot.

The scene captures handlers, judges and spectators gathered along the edge of a ploughed field and hedgerow while a black gundog, possibly a Labrador Retriever, works across the field.

There is wonderful period detail throughout. The men wear traditional country clothing including tweed, plus-fours, long socks and flat caps, while the woman standing near the gate wears a long coat and period hat. Several of the party are seated on traditional shooting sticks, with others appearing to hold walking sticks, sporting guns and possibly judging or scoring papers.

A particularly atmospheric image of interwar British country life and field sports, with strong appeal to collectors of gundog, shooting, rural history and social-history photographs.

The reverse is plain with no identifying inscription.

Condition

Good vintage condition for its age with general age-related surface wear and marks. There is some edge and corner wear and light creasing, particularly towards the right-hand edge. The image itself remains clear with very good period detail.
