Original antique Underwood & Underwood stereoview card from the Second Boer War, dating to 1900.

The original printed caption reads: “Major Remington and his escort—the ‘British Rough Riders of S. Africa.’” The stereoscopic photograph shows Major Remington on horseback accompanied by mounted troops, offering a vivid period image of colonial cavalry and mounted reconnaissance forces during the South African campaign.

The card is numbered 33 and bears the Underwood & Underwood, Publishers imprint, together with the company’s Works and Studios markings.

Published by Underwood & Underwood, one of the best-known stereoscopic photograph publishers of the period.

A genuine period collectible and an interesting piece of Boer War, British military, camp-life and early photographic history.

The card is in very good condition for its age, with only light signs of handling. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
