Marc Bloch (1886–1944) was one of the major historians of the 20th century and a co-founder, with Lucien Febvre, of the influential Annales School. He joined the French Resistance during World War II and was captured and executed by the Germans in 1944.
The Historian's Craft was published posthumously and examines how historians evaluate evidence, establish causation and reconstruct the past. The book continues to be sold in modern editions; Penguin Random House currently describes it as a classic work on historical observation, analysis and criticism.
That continuing academic relevance is more important to resale than the age of this particular paperback.
