Fascinating lot of at least 200 film negatives of images taken by staff photographers of the Drennan Photo Service, founded by John Drennan in Garden City, Long Island, NY. Mr. Drennan could be thought of as the Weegee of Nassau County car wrecks.

Photographers were on duty 24/7 listening to police scanners and often showed up at a scene before the police did. What they captured runs the gamut from simple fender benders to very serious accidents. The photo service would then sell the photos to insurance companies and attorneys involved in any litigation stemming from an accident.

These negatives will come to you as found in their original sleeves. Some contain very little info as to where and when an accident occurred, others have all the pertinent details. The negatives in this lot date from 1961 to 1967. Please note that in a given group of negatives, some of the images might be of the approaches to an accident site and might not include the involved vehicles.

Note: If you're looking for gore, these are not for you.

Further note: For fairly obvious reasons -- the fact that a person could easily scan the negatives and then return them -- I will not accept returns.
