Here is a very nice Edwin and Mary Scheier studio pottery coupe shaped bowl with a beautiful glossy mottled blue glaze and a dark black brown rim. Hand thrown by Mary and made of their '50s beige clay clay. This bowl measures 6 inches in diameter at the widest and about 3 3/4 inches high. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. Signed Scheier inside the foot. The Scheiers taught ceramics at the University of New Hampshire from the late 1930's through the late 1960's and were contemporaries of Gertrude and Otto Natzler, Beatrice Wood, and Maija Grotell. An excellent piece of mid-century modern ceramics.
