The first units began carrying out combat missions in eastern Ukraine in September 2024, specifically in the areas of Maryinka, Kurakhove, and Pokrovsk. Throughout the fall and winter, the brigade continued to operate amid extremely intense fighting, simultaneously gaining combat experience and replenishing its ranks.
The Pokrovsk sector became particularly important for the brigade. Soldiers of the 157th held defensive positions in areas where Russian troops were attempting to advance. Reports on the brigade also mention Kurakhove and Novoyelizavetivka.
And it is important to understand this: the 157th arrived at the front as a new brigade, but forged its combat history directly in real combat conditions. Its soldiers progressed from their first combat experience to complex defensive tasks on one of the most challenging fronts.
The brigade’s technological modernization stands out as a separate chapter. Today, the 157th is actively developing the use of UAVs and ground-based robotic systems, which is particularly evident in the units where Volodymyr Rusetskyi serves.
The brigade itself speaks very candidly about its journey: its first year of combat operations was already marked by military victories and, unfortunately, casualties. The command places special emphasis on honoring the memory of every soldier who gave his life for Ukraine.
