This is heavy, weighing almost 21 pounds and is about 10 inches tall and maybe about 6.5 inches wide. It's an old submarine light fixture that would have been on World War II U.S. Navy submarines. This 360 degree view one would not have been on the masthead but used either in the bow or stern on the exterior so when the sub went down the light was protected from the water so it would work when it came back up.

It's design number is 9-S-4311-L and the parts have the appropriate numbers for it. The glass is the non-ribbed kind but has the appropriate number at the top. It's not set up for wiring and the old chain holding the cap (would be underneath it) on is rusty and not attached to the screw on the side. Has brass parts it looks like as some of that gray is rubbed off in spots and it's brass underneath, maybe it is mostly brass?.
