This is an original check from the bank of Stateler & Arrington datelined Virginia (City), N. T. (Nevada Territory), May 28, 1864.  Includes a hand-cancelled blue 2-cent Bank Check revenue stamp.

This was issued by the Gould & Curry Silver Mining Company, and is signed by Charles Bonner, who was the superintendent of their mill, and replaced Charles Strong due his mismanagement and cost overruns on that project - he later took his own life in 1882 after all of his mining investments failed.
