About the Book

A collection of short stories and travel sketches focused on women in various exotic and cosmopolitan settings—ranging from Tahiti, Penang, and Siam to Martinique, Villefranche, and London. Waugh uses these geographical backdrop shifts to explore themes of romance, cultural clash, and local customs through the lens of the women living in or passing through those places. Illustrated with seven full page woodcuts and chapter headings by Lynd Ward.

Condition

Fair. Whilst the book remains in good readable condition with slight tanned pages, the cloth boards are heavily rubbed and bumped. Possibly ex-Boots Library (or similar) as ghosting of sticker to lower edge of the upper board. However, all woodcuts are present.
