Struggle for Europe 1939–1945 – Worthington Publishing – WWII Strategy Wargame – 2 Player Card Driven Board Game

A superb copy of Struggle for Europe 1939–1945, the card-driven World War II strategy wargame published by Worthington Publishing.

Designed to recreate the entire struggle for control of Europe during the Second World War in a relatively accessible game lasting under two hours, Struggle for Europe combines a large strategic map with card-driven gameplay, military units, historical events and an unusual card destruction/deck development system.

Designed specifically for two players, one player commands the Axis powers while the other controls the Allied powers, competing across Europe and North Africa from the outbreak of war in 1939 through to 1945.

Unlike many detailed WWII wargames that can require an entire day to complete, Struggle for Europe was specifically designed to provide a strategic-level recreation of the European Theatre in approximately 45–120 minutes.

Players must decide when and where to build armies, move forces, attack contested locations, develop air power, use naval movement and take advantage of important historical events.

The card-driven system is particularly interesting because cards can be used to carry out operations and events, while the game's deck-destruction/development mechanism means players must continually make strategic decisions about which cards to use, retain or remove.

As the war develops, the decks and strategic possibilities change, representing the changing balance of power during WWII.

Condition:

Opened but never used / never played.

The original box has been opened and the contents have been removed for inspection and photography, but the game itself has never been played.

The large mounted game board, Axis and Allied card decks, playing counters/tokens, rulebook and black drawstring storage bag all present extremely well and appear clean and unused.

The smaller playing components have been organised into clear storage bags as shown in the photographs.

The original outer box is also in very good overall condition, with only minor signs of storage or handling consistent with an opened item.

This is therefore an excellent opportunity to obtain an unused example of this out-of-print Worthington Publishing WWII strategy game without paying the premium normally associated with a factory-sealed collector's copy.

Please study all photographs carefully as these form an important part of the description and show the exact game, contents and condition you will receive.

About the game:

Struggle for Europe 1939–1945 is a strategic recreation of the Second World War in Europe.

The Axis player begins the conflict with important decisions regarding where and when to attack and how aggressively to expand, while the Allied player must decide how best to contain Axis expansion before ultimately moving onto the offensive.

As the war progresses, additional Allied powers and resources enter the conflict and both sides must adapt their strategies.

Each player's cards provide different operational and historical possibilities, including military movement, army construction, battles, air power and major wartime events.

The result is a comparatively quick-playing but strategically rich WWII game where timing, card management and geographical positioning are all important.

An excellent choice for collectors and players interested in WWII board games, historical wargames, military strategy games, card-driven games, Axis & Allies style strategy, European Theatre games and Worthington Publishing titles.

Its relatively manageable playing time also makes it an attractive choice for players who enjoy historical wargaming but do not necessarily want an all-day campaign.

A particularly interesting out-of-print Worthington WWII strategy game, offering a complete European campaign in a relatively compact two-player format.
