Antique ice block tongs featuring forged steel construction, riveted pivot points, and an original wooden handle with a worn stamped marking. The stamp mark appears to reference an ice company and includes partial address information, appears to possibly be N.Y. Functional and move smoothly.
These tongs were used during the ice-delivery era for handling and transporting blocks of ice before modern refrigeration became widespread. A wonderful example of early industrial and commercial Americana with attractive age-related patina throughout.
A great addition to any primitive tool collection, ice industry collection, farmhouse display, industrial décor, or advertising memorabilia collection.
