Back text/Notes: FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY CHICAGO, U. S. A. SEMANG PYGMY Sculpture in bronze by Malvina Hoffman Chauncey Keep Memorial Hall. Members of this Negrito or Pygmy group are less than five feet in stature. They inhabit the jungles of the Malay Peninsula. The hair is short and frizzy, black in color with a reddish tinge, and sparse on the face and body. The skin is dark chocolate-brown in color. The shape of the head tends to be round; the lips are generally thin; the nose is short, flat, and extremely broad. The Semang are particularly skillful with the blow-gun.
