This Copper Uyghur-legend Cash coin was issued in 875-1209 AD in Qocho Uyghurs Kingdom (高昌回鶻王国, Gāochāng Huígú wángguó) of East Turkestan in

in Central Asia.  The size is 22 x 22 mm, and the weight is 2.66 gr.  Heavily corroded.  The Uyghur-legends are visible.

This is an extremely rare coin; in my forty years of coin collecting, I have managed to acquire only two of them.  While the Numista rarity index for this item (Numista-

197623) is listed as "95," I believe this figure is far too low.  Determining the starting bid for this rare coin was a difficult decision.  Past auction results include a sale at

325 USD via Stephen Album Rare Coins and another at 650 USD on Biddr.  Taking these precedents into account, I have set the starting price at 125 USD.

It is a coin that is exceptionally difficult to obtain, so if you are interested, I strongly encourage you not to miss this opportunity.

Qocho or Kara-Khoja (Chinese: 高昌回鶻) was a Uyghur kingdom created in 843, with strong Chinese Buddhist and Tocharian influences.  It was founded by refugees

fleeing the destruction of the Uyghur Khaganate after being driven out by the Yenisei Kirghiz.  They made their winter capital in Qocho (also called Gaochang, 高昌)

and summer capital in Beshbalik.   The Uyghurs of Qocho were Buddhists whose religious identity were intertwined with their religion.  The Uyghurs sponsored the

construction of many of the temple-caves in what is now called the Bezeklik Caves.

Qocho (Gaochang, 高昌), the winter capital of the empire, was located at (42.8528, 89.5286) in the google location system.  I will attach some photos of the ruined city

from the google map system and from the google street view system.
