Swiss Army M70 TAZ 83 Alpenflage pants w/suspenders, Size 36-39 x 31, free U.S. shipping

Description

The Swiss M70 Alpenflage Field Pants are a genuine piece of Cold War-era Swiss Army surplus — issued to soldiers of the Schweizer Armee from the early 1970s through the 1990s, when the Alpenflage (also known as "TAZ 83") camouflage pattern was the standard field uniform across Switzerland's mountain and infantry units. The distinctive red, green, brown, ochre and black blotch pattern was specifically engineered to break up the wearer's silhouette against the rocky, foliage-dense terrain of the Swiss Alps, and it remains one of the most recognizable and collectible camo patterns ever fielded by a European army.

These trousers are originally-issued, not a remake — the real article, complete with the rugged construction, period-correct hardware, and honest field-use character that collectors and reenactors prize. Each pair has served, so expect signs of authentic wear: softened cotton, faded patches of pattern, and the occasional small repair or unit marking. That history is the appeal.

The stock on this M70 heavyweight design pretty much dried up two years ago and especially in the larger sizes. I was fortunate enough to obtain a small supply and this might be the last of them to turn up.

  • Fashion-forward shoppers drawn to the unmistakable red-accent camo as a streetwear statement

  • Authentic Swiss Alpenflage / TAZ 83 camouflage in red, green, brown, ochre and black
  • Cargo-style leg pockets with buttoned flaps for maps, magazines, gloves and tools
  • Reinforced seat and knees for hard kneeling, climbing and crawling wear
  • Belt loops plus integrated suspender attachment pointssuspenders included for traditional high-rise fit
  • Button fly and adjustable waist tabs in the original Swiss specification

Fit, Fabric & Season

The M70 is cut in the classic European military style — a relaxed, generous leg with a higher rise designed to work with the included suspenders. The mid-weight cotton has a structured drape that softens beautifully with wear and washing, making these equally at home on a hunting stand, at a reenactment, or styled into a vintage-military streetwear look. Best suited to spring, summer and autumn use; layer with thermals for cold-weather wear.

Condition Note

These are used, government-issued surplus. Expect honest signs of service — light fading, minor stains, period repairs, or unit stamps may be present. Each pair is unique. Inspected and graded as serviceable.

They are in very good condition with no repairs or damage. The waist has a three snap closure. The minimum waist measurement is with all three snapped closed. The maximum waist measurement is obtained by only snapping closed the two inner snaps. It could be increased even further using only one snap but I wouldn't really recommend that.

Please check the measurements below prior to ordering. Returns are very expensive.

Euro Size 50-80. Waist measures 35-36 inches with all 3 snaps closed to 39 inches with 2 snaps closed. Inseam measures app. 31 inches from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
