(8) This listing is for a nice little Vintage (c mid / late 1900s) Set of Traditional Brass Postal Scales, complete with weights, and in it's Original Wood Cabinet. The scales are on a polished, mitred edge wooden base, which has three felt lined circular recesses to hold the weights. The scales themselves have an ornate ring patterned body with a Fleur de Lis top, flat profile arms, a circular plate for the weights, a flat rectangular plate for the letters, and a black metal swinging balance needle. They come with it's brass weights: 8oz, 4oz, 2oz, 1oz, and 2 x 1/2oz. there is also included a small roll of pliable led, which can be cut to size and attached to the underside of the weight plate in order to recalibrate if they are off balance. The wooden base is 20.7cm wide x 12.2cm deep and the whole piece is 8.5cm high. The wooden cabinet which has brass hinges and a clasp, is 22.3cm wide x 14cm deep x 11.5cm high. These attractive scales would make an interesting addition to a collection of Historical Royal Mail Paraphernalia, or perhaps as a Theatre Prop, or stand alone item of home décor.
