For sale is a very folky 30s, 40s folk art carving of a Nipper the dog listening the the granaphone. Of course, this is a homemade rendition of the very famous painting of Nipper the dog listening to his master’s voice on the recording coming out of the gramophone speaker. This is just the most adorable piece of folk art have seen in a long time. A local carver did his impression of Nipper, who was a real dog, hearing the voice of his master.
This was just recently found at an estate sale in Ohio, and the original carver must have thought so much about the wonders of this new invention to create it in a wood carving. Perhaps some of the gramaphone was lost at some point I don’t know. It is difficult to tell. On the one hand, the terminus of the horn seems to stop abruptly, but it has an old patina and very similar to the rest of the horn. Please view all photos carefully and decide for yourself.
This is just a charming piece of American Folk Art. The photos were taken in two different lighting scenarios. One was taken inside with the sun shining inside a window behind, and the other set was taken outside in the shade. Please view all photos carefully and enlarge them as they are an integral part of the description. Please ask any questions you may have. Please bid with confidence as we have been eBay sellers since 1998 and view our other antique, collectible, and vintage items for sale.
