Key Facts About Crazy Lace Agate

• Geological Origin: It is famously found exclusively in the northern region of Chihuahua, Mexico. It is often referred to simply as "Mexican Agate".
• Age & Formation: Geologists estimate these stones formed between 65 and 90 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. They developed when silica-rich fluids filled cavities and bubbles within volcanic rock, cooling down and leaving behind layered mineral deposits.
• The Colors: The rich, swirling colors are caused by different iron and manganese oxide impurities trapped during formation. For example, the fiery reds and warm oranges visible in your specimen are produced by iron oxide concentrations like hematite.
• Durability: With a Mohs hardness rating of 6.5 to 7, it is incredibly durable and holds a high-gloss finish. This makes it a popular material for jewelry cabochons and ornamental carvings.
