Silk Program 1901 COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENT OPENING Duke & Duchess York/Cornwall

Original 1901 Silk Programme  -  Opening of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia

An original silk programme issued to mark the Opening of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York (later King George V and Queen Mary). This example records the programme for the Reception hosted by His Majesty’s Ministers of State for Australia at the Exhibition Building, Melbourne, on 9 May 1901.

Printed in gold on silk, it lists the evening’s performers, song titles, and performance times, and would most likely have been given to an attending dignitary (185mm x 230mm).

Examples of this calibre are more commonly held in institutional collections and seldom appear for private sale - a rare opportunity for collectors of political and royal memorabilia.

Condition is good for it's age. The gold print is clear. There are some light marks and a faint horizontal crease across the programme centre. Please refer to the photos to check condition and ask if you have any questions.
