Theatre Programme Description
This is an original silk programme for performances of Shakespeare's "Henry V", which played at the Imperial Opera House, Wellington, New Zealand from 26 December 1878 to 31 December 1878, after performances in Sydney and Melbourne. The programme features a nice introduction to George Rignold, this being his first performance in New Zealand. The cast is listed and there is a play synopsis.
This is a rare find as the Imperial Opera House in Wellington, where this performance featured, opened in 1878 and burnt down the following year. Not many programs now from this theatre still exist.
This programme is in overall good condition (260mm x 235mm). All print is clear and complete. There is some light fraying at edges, creasing at left edge and discoloration as can be seen in photos.
