This auction is for a stampless cover sent from Basil Browning to Owen Gerry, Monroe County, Sumersette Post Office, Missouri. Sumersette is not listed in either the Helbock or Schultz Missouri post office listings. The long letter is full of genealogy of people apparently related or known to Gerry and Browning. There are marriages, deaths (lots of deaths) and relations. Some of the family names are Browning, Chapman, Downing, Walker, and Cruson. The cover is postmarked from Flemingsburg, KY, Nov 6, (1854), 8c postage. It is on a sheet of paper which is about 16 by 10 inches, folded down to 5 by 3 1/4 inches. There is a tear on the 3rd page of the letter, visible in the scan, otherwise good condition and legible. Please see the scans for condition.
