Description

An antique German bottle coaster with removable drip tray insert by E. Hartmann of Munich, made for Pagnis in Wittlich (probably a resturant or bar, etc ?), and dating to the early 20th century : the circular stepped coaster has 3 locating indents to the interior sides (matching the notches on the drip tray) and is stamped 'E. Hartmann, Metallwaarenfabrik, Munchen', whilst the insert has an openwork star design and is stamped 'Pagnis Wittlach'.

Size : Approx 12.5cm diameter x 2 cm tall at widest points, the insert 10.6cm diameter

Condition : Extensive plate loss (only the base metal showing) otherwise in overall good used antique condition with expected marks / wear commensurate with age and use, the interior bowl and base of the coaster have marks / wear (see last 2 photos), the insert has edge dings, and the locating indents have worn (no longer 'lock' the insert in place) - please see all 16 photos below (message me if you require additional photos / info, etc).
