ESP Random Star 1970s Japan Akira Takasaki RS-213 Electric Guitar

Key Features

  • ✔ This is a rare and highly collectible vintage ESP Random Star electric guitar from Japan, manufactured between the 1970s and 1980s. Known for its unique design and historical significance, this guitar was purchased around the early 1980s and represents one of the earliest models of the Random Star series. It features a solid alder body, a flat neck with approximately 90% fret life remaining, and weighs approximately 3.70kg. The guitar is ideal for fans of Takasaki Akira and vintage ESP instruments, offering a piece of Japanese guitar history.
  • ✔ Key features include a German-made Schaller-style tuning peg, an original Floyd Rose-type tremolo bridge without a logo (similar in construction to the German-made versions), and pickups consisting of an ESP LH PU (Neck) and a Seymour Duncan SH-1B (Bridge). The guitar has been modified with a Duncan pickup in the rear position and an older, no-logo Floyd Rose-type tremolo, which closely resembles the German-made models of the era. It is believed to correspond to models RS-213 or RS-280, though the exact model number is unknown. The instrument shows signs of wear, including scratches and dirt, consistent with its age, but has been tested for sound and plays well.
  • ✔ Included with this guitar is the original soft case. Please note that the truss rod adjustment is currently at about 5-10% of its full range, with the maximum being 100%. Due to the vintage nature, some cosmetic imperfections are present, and the guitar is sold as-is. Shipping will be handled via Yamato Transport, with a delivery timeframe of 3 to 7 days. Please allow up to 7 days for dispatch due to potential delays in handling inquiries.
