The Bristol Bulldog was one of the most famous British fighter aircraft of the interwar years and shaped the image of the Royal Air Force at a time of technical change. Developed by Frank Barnwell for the Bristol Airplane Company, this pattern combined modern design approaches with the classic features of a high-performance biplane. The Bulldog therefore represents an important development phase between the experiences of the First World War and the later fighter aircraft of the 1930s.

Characteristic of the model are the compact, balanced shape, the fabric-covered areas and the silver appearance, for which British fighter aircraft of this era are particularly well known. Even though the Bulldog was not used in air combat during its relatively short operational period, it was considered an advanced aircraft and was a conspicuous representative of the RAF in demonstrations and formation flights. It is precisely this combination of technological history, pre-war appearance and classic double-decker design that makes the model particularly attractive.
