Original vintage Roland System-100 Patch Notes binder from the late 1970s, containing an extensive programmer's archive accumulated during the working life of the Roland System-100 analogue modular synthesiser. Unlike most surviving empty binders, this example remains filled with a substantial collection of Patch Notes sheets documenting sound programming for the Roland Model 101 Synthesizer, Model 102 Expander and Model 104 Sequencer. The archive includes a fascinating mixture of original professionally printed Roland Patch Notes (Printed in Japan), period working photocopies and handwritten programming sheets showing colour-coded slider positions, CV/Gate routing, sequencer settings and studio notes. Numerous patches have been identified for well-known recordings and artists including Genesis, Gary Numan, Jean-Michel Jarre, Supertramp and The Cars, together with many original sound designs including basses, effects, rhythmic sequences and experimental analogue patches. This appears to have been a genuine working programmer's reference rather than a simple sales binder, making it an unusual surviving piece of vintage synthesizer history.
