This is a massive and lovely piece of Lignum Vitae dressed on my high end European equipment (Panhans jointer and Martin Planer), so no snipe and little if any tear out ( planed with spiral head).  The wood measures 3 3/16" x 3 3/16" x 16 1/16"

This is one of the superwoods!  Great wood for plane bodies, carving, mallets, furniture, turned boxes, pool cues, knife scales.  I've included a photos of some planes I've made, two of which are Lignum Vitae as well as turned boxes of other fine exotics.  Perfect wood for ornamental lathe work.  It smells great too!

Many pieces of wood I'm selling have been in my collection for 20 years or so.  Tiny surface checks on 2 sides.  One end grain check, 3/8" at end, 3/4" along long grain.  See photos for detail.  Both end coated in amber shellac to preserve stability.
