Stunning Vintage Kosta Boda "Fidji" Large Art Glass Bottle Vase – Designed by Kjell Engman (Model 48840)

Up for sale is this magnificent, striking example of Scandinavian art glass: the iconic Fidji Bottle Vase from the Kosta Boda Artist Collection. 

Originally conceptualised by famed designer Kjell Engman in 1988, this spectacular line was inspired by the rainbow-like shifting colors of oil floating on water.

This is the highly sought-after Model 48840, which is the largest size produced in this series. 

It features a beautifully swelling, plump base that elegantly tapers up into a long, proud, slender neck. 

Because each vase is masterfully mouth-blown by Swedish artisans, the internal multicolored glass ribbons swirl uniquely, making it a completely one-of-a-kind statement piece.

Markings & Authenticity:

The base features a crisp, original diamond-point etched signature: "Kosta Boda K. Engman 48840". It also retains a vintage Greek distributor label from a legacy boutique importer.

Approximate Dimensions:Height: 46.5cm Diameter (at widest point): 16 cm 

Condition:Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. The crystal glass retains its brilliant clarity and vibrant polychrome saturation.

Kjell Engman was born in Stockholm and educated at Konstfack and the Pilchuck Glass School in the USA. Since 1978 he has been active at Kosta Boda. He lives on Öland and works at his studio in Kosta.
