Tests as sterling or coin silver bright red , all areas test as silver except the bottom base where makeshift bolt holds figure to base as shown in photo, it is definetaly bronze/brass on bottom round holed plate. Not uncommon for items of this time period (1890-1910) the rest of the figure tests positive for silver, the hands, robe arms ,head, body all test as silver.... i dont have an xrf gun for precious metals and i really refrained from acid tests directly.... well the direct acid on back of piece has been gouged before acid was placed and neutralized after about 45 seconds, then another drop was placed and bright red again. and a 3rd.. same result same spot. i believe it to be silver . The old materials match the period and it appears unsigned and truly cherished through the years. This was a pricey purchase at Drs. estate sale and well i couldnt resist, as it speaks quality and is absolutely amazing!
Estimated weight of figure is 251 grams alone.,consider the 4" round base plate as well.. This is very very old ,thin metal, hollow and absolutely lightweight. This has some dings on back as shown in photo, but otherwise in exceptional condition.
The wood stand and red fabric show signs age and distress, and are coming apart.
This is a one of a kind piece and could be something special to someone....fair offers welcome......Happy bidding!
