Interesting mixed lot of four original vintage photographs/postcard, offering a fascinating glimpse into British and European social, architectural and street history.

The lot includes a photograph of J. & J. Hendrie & Jamieson Solicitors, showing three people posed outside the firm's premises. The painted window advertises the firm as agents for the Royal Insurance Co. Ltd., covering fire, life, personal accident, workmen's compensation, burglary and motor car risks. John D. Jamieson, Solicitor & Notary Public is also named on the sign.

Also included is a vintage street scene believed to show Highgrove Road, formerly Grove Road, Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, looking from the junction with Rookery Lane. The scene shows period suburban houses, a motor car and motorcycle and is believed to date from around August 1964.

Another photograph shows Max Gate, Alington Avenue, Dorchester, Dorset, the famous home designed by author and poet Thomas Hardy and built by his brother. Hardy moved into Max Gate with his wife Emma in 1885 and lived there until his death in 1928.

Completing the lot is an early French postcard of Wormhout, Nord, France, captioned “WORMHOUDT – Rue de la Citadelle”. The cobbled street leads towards the prominent tower of Église Saint-Martin, providing an attractive early view of the town.

Condition: All are in vintage used condition with age-related handling and surface wear, including occasional light marks, scratches, corner/edge wear and minor discolouration commensurate with age.
