2002 BMW E39 520i manual 117,000 genuine mileage whi h is low for the type or car and for the year of it.Car has been owned by myself for the last 2 years and has provided me with hassle free motoring g for that period of ownership, unfortunately I have to downsize vehicle now due to financial reasons which pains me as I am reluctant to let go of this car.
Il start from the beginning with the good points and end with the not so good points but there isn't many.
Good points:-
Has a very strong and quiet M54b22engine no rattles or tapping from the engine and amazingly no oil leaks
Gearbox and rear diff also very quiet no whining from either,
Air con all working absolutely fine.
Grey leather interior with no tears or rips
Car has been lowered NOT coil overs just springs but I have got the originals which I will supply with the car to the buyer
Rear backbone has been removed and a straight through pipe put in its place car is not ridiculously loud at all though and does give it that nice straight 6 tone.
Alloy rocker cover fitted but I can supply the original plastic one to the buyer
All 6 coil packs and sparkplugs were changed back in December for brand new bosch items and the fuel filter was also changed at the same time.
Oil has been changed every 6 months by me (as I am a mechanic)
Waterpump and thermostat including housing were changed last year April 2025, and the car has been remapped by Quantum its not pushing ridiculous BHP standard it was only 170BHP with the map and the HKS filter its probably pushing only 189BHP i wasn't aiming for big speed i just wanted to iron out the flat spot it had on acceleration.
NO major RUST ON EITHER THE BODYWORK OR THE UNDERSIDE it's never been welded what so ever previous mot history which can be checked online will back that up as it will the mileage of the vehicle.
Okay now for the not so good bits:-
Rear bumper has sustained a scratch thanks to a kind person not having very good parking abilities same goes for the front bumper which I have made an attempt to repair but I am not a bodywork expert I'm a mechanic.
The bootlicker has had some sort of repair done on it looks like it wasn't done by a professional so it doesn't look amazing but doesn't let the car down.
The bonnet has faded really badly and the paint has had some strange reaction on the passenger side it's a very common issue on the E39 and E46 models I have no idea what's caused it as the car was like that when I bought it.
Could do with a pair of grilles on the bonnet as these ones are quite loose.
There's a sensor fault with the ABS system I did replace the brake pressure line sensor for the MOT last year but it was a chinesium part and the light recently came back on with the same fault code so I'd probably say to get a genuine sensor.
Immobiliser is very intermittent I think its more to do with the battery in the key to be honest as since not using the car for the last 6 weeks it won't lock the car on the buttons I have to use the key in the lock.
All 4 alloy wheels are kerbed but NOT BUCKLED they have stretched tyres on them but I can supply 3 245/40/18 tyres with the car sadly the 4th tyre has gone walkies.
Original airfilter box has also gone missing out of my shed so I cannot supply that I'm afraid.
Car only has a short MOT left on it.
Also car does not have extensive service history sadly I bought the car without any but I was buying an old car not a pristine example for exclusive money as I am not selling the car as pristine nor am i asking for exclusive money for it its probably being sold for the right amount compared to other examples in worse condition which people want more money for.
Bodywork of the car has some age related dinks and very light scratches but let's be honest it's done well for it's age she is an old girl now but very good condition considering some examples you come across.
Okay so everything ive listed there is to my knowledge as I said ive had the car for the last 2 years and ive done the recent work to it myself and it has been very reliable. But please before you ask me any questions BARE IN MIND IM NOT SELLING A MI T CONDITION CAR WITH SERVICE HISTORY AND ALL THE OTHER TRIMMINGS it's a fair example which I am asking reasonable money for it has a short MOT and I cannot guarantee it doesn't need some bits for a new MOT sadly MOT testers work on the basis its their opinion not the owners.
Please please feel free to ask me any questions you may have I will accept offers but don't make me silky offers as I will flat refuse and it will be wasting both of our time and I won't do any swaps or part ex's
Cheers guys thanks for having a look and I look forward to hearing from you
