1900/1 U.S. ARMY IN CHINA
In the closing years of the 19th century, the United States began to flex its military muscles. It had fought against the Spanish colonial army in Cuba between 1898 and -99. This was quickly followed by a war against the Phillipines between 1899 and 1902. A third lot of troops were sent to China in 1900 as part of a multinational force asked to deal with the Boxer rebellion.
