From the web:  The Humphrey Radiantfire, manufactured in the 1920s by the General Gas Light Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was a revolutionary gas-powered fireplace heater that became a staple in homes during the early 20th century. Invented by Alfred Humphrey in 1916, it was designed to be a clean, odorless alternative to coal and wood, providing heat through ceramic "radiants" that glowed when heated by gas.
