Jaguar XJ-S Pre HE first registered July 1979, supplied by Saville Motors Stratford-On-Avon. Finished in Tudor White with Black leather, complimented by Kent alloy wheels. This car has a recorded mileage of 58,000 miles, believed genuine. The car comes with the Supercover Handbook Portfolio, drivers handbook and passport to service book, which is stamped to 46,000 miles. Also with the history is a letter from the previous owner, plus MOT certificates dating back 25 years and invoices for various parts etc, including a gearbox rebuild. According to the history, the first owner was a Jaguar dealership and the second owner had the car for 20 years until 2001. From what can be ascertained the car spent some time off the road from 2001 until 2007 and then again from 2008 until circa 2020 when it was used sparingly and then again it was laid up until 2025.

The story so far .........
I purchased this car last year as a project, I'm a bit of sucker for the Pre HE. The car needed all the usual XJ-S V12 issues sorting after standing, brakes, fuel system ignition system etc etc. These cars can take you down a rabbit hole, even for someone who is known for these cars as I am. The car had been set up and was running well when it arrived, the lads at Hawkesbury Jaguar made a nice job of setting the fuel pressure and both throttle bodies. But as often is the case with these cars, once warm weather arrives fuelling and ignition issues arise. Fuel pressures went off again, this was down to a faulty regulator. I fitted a new reg and reset the pressures all ok. After an extended test drive, the fuel pump flow rate was down, so the surge tank was cleaned and both filters replaced again !  After the third road test fuelling issues still arose, new fuel pump fitted all ok.
Fast forward the hot weather arrives, ideal time to road test. A/C wasn't blowing cold but the compressor was working, re-gas A/C now blowing cold. After 10 miles into the fourth road test, the A/C stopped blowing cold and car was losing power, possible fuel vaporisation due to no A/C = no fuel cooler ?  I limped back to the workshop A/C compressor had failed, turns out someone had bi-passed the thermal fuse and ruined the compressor. So I fitted a new modern axial compressor, along with new receiver drier, expansion valve, new R134A fittings and importantly a new modern pressure switch in place of the outdated thermal fuse arrangement, A/C now blowing cold. Fifth road test !  A/C now cold so hopefully the fuel cooler will help with running and cure fuel vaporisation, no such luck after circa 10 miles car starts losing power again. I limp back to the workshop and go through the ignition system again to find another Pre HE issue, the ignition Amp was failing when hot. The complete old system was removed and replaced with the trusted Luminition system. I took the car on its sixth road test with outside temp of 27c, A/C nice and cold. Car pulls like a train, super smooth and covers 60 miles with out issue :-)
Seventh road test outside temp 24c, A/C nice and cold car covers 85 miles without issue :-)
I have no more time and I am running out of space, so the car needs to go. I am selling as a project, it needs paint and TLC. This will make a nice Pre HE. I wont recoup what it owes me, but at least it's another Pre HE well on the way to being saved.

Well over £4,000 just spent. Both the electric windows and central locking work, as does the A/C. The leather is in excellent condition along with the carpets and door cards. The car now runs well with excellent oil pressure and correct engine temperature. In need of some TLC to the paint, or use/improve as is. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss. It even comes with a working and rare Jaguar period Philips Turnlock radio/ cassette. A nice little project and a great entry way into the most desirable and collectable XJS which is the Pre HE.
