ALS, Autograph letter signed “Amy Donaldson”, written by Lady Amelia 'Amy' Donaldson (née Cowper) of Rosehill House, Henley‑on‑Thames, on ROSEHILL HOUSE stationery. Lady Amelia was the wife of Sir Stuart Alexander Donaldson

The letter, dated simply Feb 25, concerns Lady Donaldson’s annual parish? or charitable? subscriptions for 1892, which she notes were paid “at Mr Wethered’s particular request” — referring to Thomas Owen Wethered, MP and head of the historic Wethered Brewery of Marlow, a major civic figure in the Hurley–Henley area.

Lady Donaldson expresses regret at “the trouble there is at Hurley” and explains that she “can make no alterations this year”, but asks to be informed if “the objections” mentioned by the recipient persist next year. The reference to “trouble at Hurley” is not specified; it may relate to a local parish subscription or charitable assessment dispute overseen by the Wethered family, but this identification remains tentative.

Written in a neat late‑Victorian female hand in dark ink on cream paper with light age spotting, typical of Rosehill House correspondence of the period. A faint pencil note on the verso (“Lady Donaldson”) is a later identification but aligns with the correct attribution.

A scarce example of Henley–Hurley gentry correspondence, linking the Donaldson family, the Wethereds, and local parish administration in the early 1890s.
