Antique Bolivian Andean Handwoven & Hand-Embroidered Folk Jacket

An exceptional antique traditional Andean folk jacket featuring handwoven wool construction with elaborate hand embroidery and decorative appliqué throughout the front, sleeves and cuffs.

This beautiful garment was purchased by me in South America over fifty years ago and has remained in my private collection ever since.

The jacket displays the distinctive craftsmanship associated with the Andean Altiplano region of Bolivia, with richly embroidered geometric and floral motifs typical of traditional indigenous textiles.

Whether intended for ceremonial, festive or everyday traditional wear, it is a wonderful example of Andean textile artistry and would make an outstanding addition to any collection of ethnographic textiles, folk costume or antique clothing.
