Reflection of the Culture of Yokohama in the Days of the Port Opening, by Tsuneo Tamba, published by Asahi Shimbun, Tokyo, in 1962. Quarto, cloth-covered boards in a dust jacket, housed in a cardboard slipcase. 418 color and black and white illustrations. Intro and preface in English. Other text in Japanese, with Japanese and English captions to the illustrations. Edition limited to 2300 copies. A standard resource of Yokohama-E woodblock prints of the Meiji period, with illustrations mostly depicting the interactions of the Japanese and Western visitors and merchants, especially Americans, in the period when Japan opened itself commercially and culturally to Americans and Europeans. The book is in fine condition. The dust jacket has a couple of very minor stains. The slipcase is lightly soiled, and shows other minor signs of age and use.
