Vintage Lionel 2356 Southern, F3 ABA, O Gauge Locomotive Set, 1954-1956: Up for review is a Lionel 2356 Vintage O Southern F-3 ABA Diesel Locomotive Set manufactured from 1954 to 1956. The Southern green and white set was one of the first Lionel F-3 sets decorated in colors other than Santa Fe or New York Central. Included is a powered A unit, a non-powered A unit, and a non-powered B unit. The powered unit features include dual motors, a reverse unit, operating lights, die-cast metal trucks, operating metal knuckle coupler and metal wheels. The non-powered A unit has an operating horn, operating couplers, lights metal trucks and wheels. The B unit features die cast trucks, fixed knuckle couplers, and metal wheels.

This used set has the patina expected for its 70 plus years age. Both A units have flaked nose decals. The port-whole windows have yellowed on each unit. Each locomotive shows scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. The battery compartment is clean and empty.  It can use some grease and oil since it has not been run recently. The instruction manual and boxes are not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Based on age and use, the overall condition is very good.
