At its center is a striking 12-point starburst (or snowflake) motif, surrounded by intricate "cut-steel" style detailing and a textured, beaded border. The button is crafted from deep black glass, often referred to as "black jet glass," and finished with a shimmering silver lustre that gives it the appearance of metallic armor or fine jewelry.

​The reverse shows a smooth, slightly convex black glass back with a secure metal loop shank. At 35mm, this is considered a "large" button, originally intended for a heavy velvet cloak, winter coat, or a statement bodice.
