DESCRIPTION:

For sale is a vintage Chinese cast metal crocodile sculpture measuring exactly 22cm in length. This is a wonderfully detailed tabletop piece featuring realistic molded scales, an open-mouth pose, and a dynamic crawling posture.

The underbelly features an embossed oval Chinese "Dian Tong" (点銅) mark. While historically a quality mark used for high-purity Chinese export pewter, please note this item is made of a silver-toned base white metal alloy/pewter and is NOT solid precious silver. It has a heavy, solid feel, making it an excellent desk paperweight or bookcase accent.

CONDITION REPORT:

Good vintage condition with a lovely aged patina. As shown clearly in the close-up photographs, the bright silvery surface wash has worn away on the high-contact areas—specifically the undersides of the feet pads and sections of the underbelly—exposing the dark, matte charcoal gray metal core underneath. There are minor surface scratches and pocket tarnish inline with its age, giving it great character. Please inspect all photos carefully to evaluate the surface wear before bidding.
